STUDENT Permits
Please go to the Parking Portal on or after the time designated below to purchase a permit.
We apologize for the inconvenience that students, faculty, and staff experienced with the parking portal failure on August 1, 2022. Last year, we transitioned to a third-party, cloud-based system. It, too, encountered issues on the first day of student permit sales. That system's developers made changes using last year's data. They also "stress tested" the system before student permit sales opened this year to prove the changes were sufficient to prevent a crash. Unfortunately, as we know, the system crashed soon after sales opened.
We will tentatively be implementing a phased approach to student permit sales beginning next week to mitigate the system demands of the initial sales periods. That schedule is included in the table below. Sales will begin for each new permit type at 10 AM on the designated day. Parking Services will confirm the schedule outlined below prior to 8/9 in the event there are any changes. Please note that most permit types DO NOT have a limited quantity so there is no need to go online at the start time.
Permit Type | Who is Eligible | Limited Quantity
8/9/2022 | Premium Resident North | Residents of North and Northwest | SOLD OUT |
8/9/2022 | All Graduate Assistant Permits | Graduate Assistants on all campuses | NO |
8/10/2022 | Storrs Apartments | Charter Oak, Hilltop and Northwood Apartments Residents | NO |
8/11/2022 | Storrs General Resident | Storrs Non-Apartment Residents | YES |
8/12/2022 | Regional Campuses | All Regional Campus Students | NO* |
8/16/2022 | South Garage | Storrs Commuters | YES |
8/17/2022 | Premium Commuter Lot Y | Storrs Commuters | YES |
8/18/2022 | Commuter Lot W | Storrs Commuters | ** |
8/19/2022 | Commuter Lots C & K | Storrs Commuters | ** |
*There is a limited quantity of permits for the Waterbury Garage but once filled, permits for the Scoville Street Garage are available
**Storrs commuter lots have initial capacity limits that are adjusted over the semester. At least one commuter permit type will always be available. |
Again, we apologize for the inconvenience and frustration that this system failure has caused and look forward to better serving your needs in the future.
